DEFROST WARNING

Turkey Day is almost upon us and, with it, the most wonderful bike-time of the year! That's right, crazy amounts of food, carbs, and cals, followed by open roads as everyone hits those tryptophan zzz's in front of the football game.

And that free day of riding's followed up by Black Friday, the perfect chance to score deals on all the bikesparts, and accessories you've been coveting all year!

And thaaaat day's followed up by an entire weekend full of even more ride-pportunities! Yep, Thanksgiving is a magical time on two wheels, and it all kicks off next week.

So why are we talking about it now? Because our least favorite part of the Thanksgiving tradition is buying a turkey on T-Day eve and then remembering that it takes those suckers days to defrost. Scrambling to un-freeze a rock-hard super-hen is no fun and it'll quickly suck the spirit out of your festivities. But that won't be a problem this year - because this time we're ready!

Yep, after years of panicked Thanksgivings we've finally learned the key to a quality Turkey defrost - 1 day in the fridge for every 4 pounds of bird and you'll be ready to go when the big day rolls around!

That officially makes this your 32-pound warning and, while most of us won't be buying birds that big, it's time to start thinking about picking one up so you'll know how long yours is going to take to shake off the frost.

Once you have your bird picked out, check the chart below for a handy guide on when to move that puppy from the freezer to the fridge.

Turkey Weight 28-32 lbs 24-28 lbs 20-24 lbs 16-20 lbs 12-16 lbs 8-12 lbs 4-8 lbs 0-4 lbs Time to Eat!
Date to Move to Fridge 11/15 11/16 11/17 11/18 11/19 11/20 11/21 11/22 Thanksgiving Day!

And now you and your bird will be ready on the big day!

Don't forget to plan a post-feast route to work off some of those delicious calories (and put that premium holiday fuel to good use) and swing by your local bike shop and our site on Black Friday to score those sweet post-meal deals!
